In the Core Network Technology Research Project, we are working on various network infrastructure technologies in each layer of optical transport, network services, and service platforms to realize IOWN.
To realize an all-photonic network (APN) that will support IOWN by 2030, we are working to establish optical transmission system configuration technologies that fully and flexibly utilize broadband to provide optical paths between multiple points on a wavelength basis, technologies that efficiently design optical paths, and technologies that advance maintenance and operation. In addition, we are working on technologies to realize high value-added for developing new network services and diversifying service menus through the advancement of APN optical paths (higher frequency precision and lower delay).
For realizing various telecom services, we are researching platform technology for new communication services to ensure the reliability and availability of network infrastructure and enable network infrastructures are flexibly configured and deployed in accordance with service requirements.
The Cooperative Infrastructure Platform is an infrastructure technology for mission-critical CPS services that integrates various networks and ICT resources, such as fixed networks, mobile networks, satellite communications, MEC, cloud, and devices. For mobility services such as autonomous driving systems, we provide low-latency and highly reliable communications by predicting network quality on the basis of the device's location and provide multipath communication technology using the prediction. In addition to the network technology, an AI intelligent cooperative control function combines various components and links with applications and devices. It provides optimal services in accordance with user requirements, application requirements, and service areas.
