NTT Access Network Service Systems Laboratories has contributed to OSS by implementing the IEEE specification abstraction function for VOLTHA, which is a component of SEBA. Figure 2 shows the functional parts of VOLTHA related to line settings, and the parts newly implemented as OSS are shown within the red frames. The adapter unit of VOLTHA has a function to set the line settings of OLT / ONU hardware according to the setting files. We have defined the IEEE specification compliant configuration file format to handle the parameters required for OLT / ONU configuration based on the IEEE specification. In addition, the line setting read unit has also been implemented so that the setting file read unit with appropriate specifications can read the distributed setting file for each specification and setting files with different formats can be dynamically read. In order to input the setting information to the actual OLT and ONU hardware, we also implemented the OLT / ONU hardware setting unit that supports IEEE (SIEPON(*) Package B) compliant hardware. Using this software, we have verified the data plane and the setting input in actual OLT / ONUs of the IEEE specifications.
(*) SIEPON (Service Interoperability EPON): System-level standard specification aimed at ensuring interoperability between EPON devices specified by IEEE 1904.1. Formulated as three standardized packages for different markets (Pkg A: North America, Pkg B: Japan, Pkg C: China).
