The IOWN Product Design Center (IDC) was established in May 2022 as the fourth subsidiary of the IOWN Integrated Innovation Center (IIC) to accelerate the social implementation of IOWN technologies.
In cooperation with the Network Innovation Center, which is responsible for the research and development of network and access systems, the Software Innovation Center, which is responsible for the research and development of computing infrastructure software, and the Device Innovation Center, which is responsible for the research and development of optical and electronic devices, we are working to realize and disseminate the IOWN concept in a timely manner based on the needs of users and markets.

With the IOWN technologies, NTT R&D aims not only to further enhance NTT group’s competitive advantage in the current major business areas of them, such as the telecommunications network business area and the ICT solutions business area, but also to expand its business area into the IT equipment and terminals business area.
Furthermore, we also aim to realize services and products, that utilize IOWN technologies in a full stack, such as integration with IT devices/terminals, networks, and computing systems using core technologies such as photonics-electronics convergence devices.
We, the IOWN Product Design Center, has formulated a development and dissemination strategy that is backcast from market needs and social demands, and we intend to contribute to the early social implementation of IOWN technologies and the realization of services and products utilizing IOWN technologies by consistently promoting technology development, dissemination activities, and introduction support based on this strategy.
