Our goal is to realize well-being of people and society. We are researching and developing two technologies. One is "Behavior Modeling Technology," to understands and mathematically models human and group behaviors. The other is "Behavior Change Technology" to naturally change change behaviors for the better by utilizing behavioral models.
Present bias is a type of cognitive bias that humans have. Humans overestimate the value of immediate rewards and, conversely, underestimate the importance of rewards obtained in the distant future. For example, before the summer vacation starts, some students try to make steady progress on their homework every day. However, they often put off all homework until the last day of the vacation. This phenomenon, called time incongruence, is known to be caused by present bias. We are advancing research and development by mathematically modeling human behavior under the influence of present bias, in order to reveal the effects of this cognitive bias on future behavior and identify effctive interventions for supporting long-term goal achievement.
