In accordance with the NTT Group Sustainability Charter, the NTT Group is actively engaged in environmental activities for the future to achieve harmony between people and the Earth. In addition, we have set Environmental Target 2030 as a guidepost for realizing the future set forth in the Environmental Energy Vision by NTT.
In addition to the IOWN Integrated Innovation Center, NTT has established the NTT Service Innovation Laboratory Group, the NTT Information Network Laboratory Group and the NTT Science and Core Technology Laboratory Group, as well as four other research and development institutes. NTT is conducting various cooperative research and development activities related to ICT at six locations in Yokosuka, Shinagawa, Musashino, Tsukuba, Atsugi, and Keihanna. During the 2014 fiscal year, we integrated three environmental management systems from the NTT Service Innovation Laboratory Group, NTT Information Network Laboratory Group, and NTT Science and Core Technology Laboratory Group and began operating them under a new structure. Four research and development institutes, the NTT IOWN Integrated Innovation Center, NTT Service Innovation Laboratory Group, NTT Information Network Laboratory Group, and NTT Science and Core Technology Laboratory Group are promoting environmental protection activities according to a single environmental policy.
Based on the NTT Group Sustainability Charter, these research institutes strive to reduce the environmental impact while contributing to the development of ICT in order to realize the NTT Group's goal of a future in which people and the Earth are in harmony while achieving a sustainable society where everything in the world is connected.
Among the specific activities of the NTT Group, the following activities are related to research institutes.
In addition to creating and providing research and development results that contribute to the environment, we will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity through the effective use of energy and resources, promotion of waste recycling, promotion of purchasing green products, and appropriate management of chemical substances, which we are working to implement in the operation of our environmental management system. At the same time, we will continue to contribute to communities by placing importance on communication with people in local neighborhoods.
We would like to introduce NTT Research Laboratories' environmental protection activities.
